Streetwear Profiles May 2014: Y&G Originals

These kids have really impressed me with their product offering. They bring out great looking gear that is of good quality and unlike most streetwear clothing groups I have come across, their price is in favour of market dominance in the future.

Anyway, here is what they have to say about themselves from their view.




Y&G Originals is a Hip Hop clothing brand which Y&G Originals is a Hip Hop clothing brand which was established on the 19th of July 2013.Ray Buthelezi and Katleho Moloi are the founders of this Young and youthful brand. Y&G has gradually expanded and grown.

Streetwear Profiles May 2014: Galxboy


My first focus is on one of my favourite labels in South Africa, not saying much about them, I believe they let their own profile say more about who they are. This is a snippet on where it all began and who they are from their own perspective:

23 year old student and designer Thatiso “Vuittots” Dube has been causing ripples in the South African youth fashion and streetwear industry with his label GALXBOY, pronounced “Galaxy Boy” or “Gal ex Boy”.

GALXBOY has come a long way since its establishment in 2008. Inspired by the success of the popular South African streetwear brand AmaKipKip, Vuittots started a t-shirt brand called “Cheeseboy”.

However, Vuittots decided not to give up on his passion, and soon he re-launched his label with the revised name “CheeseGalxBoy”, which later evolved to “GALXBOY”, a name that Vuittots feels appeals to a broader market across borders and age groups

Vuittots describes his street wear brand as an embodiment of “what girls do because of boys and what boys do because of girls” and designs his clothing to suit men and women of all ages and races who are not afraid to be fashionably eclectic and experimental. - S.Mona (Sibz_Steez)
